IvyBackup

IvyBackup

IvyBackup is backup software for Windows. It copies your files, folders and whole drives to a safe place on a schedule you choose. It encrypts every backup with 256-bit AES and can send it to a local disk, a network share or the cloud. We have shipped and supported it since 2018.

What IvyBackup does

Everything you need to protect a Windows machine, in one program.

Schedules and triggers

Run a backup daily, weekly or monthly. You can also start a backup on a system event, or run it by hand at any time.

Cloud destinations

Send backups to Google Drive, Dropbox, pCloud, FTP, FTPS or SFTP, as well as local disks and network shares.

256-bit AES encryption

Encrypt each backup before it leaves the machine. Only you hold the password that opens it.

Drive images

Copy a complete hard drive, including the operating system and installed programs, so you can rebuild a machine.

Filters and compression

Include or exclude files by name, type or folder. Set the compression level to balance backup size against speed.

Pre and post-backup actions

Run a command before or after a backup. Shut down or log off the machine when the job completes.

Five ways to back up

Pick the backup type that fits the job. Mix them in the same plan.

  • Drive imageA complete copy of a hard drive, including files, applications and the operating system. Windows only.
  • FullA compressed archive of the files and folders you select.
  • MirrorAn exact, uncompressed copy of your files and folders that you can open directly.
  • DifferentialOnly the changes made since the last full backup.
  • IncrementalOnly the changes made since the previous backup of any type.

Typical backup scenarios

Three common ways our customers set up IvyBackup.

Scenario one

Nightly office backup

Select your documents folder, choose a full backup each Friday and an incremental backup every other night. Send it to a network share and to Google Drive.

Scenario two

Photos to the cloud

Mirror your photo library to Dropbox or pCloud each week. Filter out temporary files, and encrypt the copy before it leaves the machine.

Scenario three

Full machine recovery

Take a drive image of the whole computer each month to an external disk. If the disk fails, restore the operating system, programs and files together.
